Oud Beyond is an uncompromising exploration of natural oud and musk, created around an exceptionally concise palette of materials. Dominique Dubrana contrasts two different expressions of oud: the deep, refined woody character of Thai oud with the considerably more animalic and untamed personality of Laotian oud.
Rather than softening the composition with conventional rose, saffron, amber or gourmand notes, Oud Beyond pushes further into the primal character of oud. Ambrette introduces a vegetal, slightly earthy muskiness, while civet reinforces its warm, sensual and intensely animalic dimension.
The result is dark, woody, musky and deliberately feral. Oud Beyond can reveal barnyard, leathery, earthy and almost urinous nuances, particularly during its opening, before gradually becoming warmer, smoother and more woody on skin. This is oud presented without attempting to disguise its challenging natural facets.
