Part of the Amouage Library Collection and inspired by the tension between idealism and realism in Stendhal's "The Red and The Black." Composed at 20% oil concentration and aged for six weeks. Built around Oud Assam — one of the most potent, raw and animalic varieties of agarwood available to perfumery. Cypriol, Patchouli and Virginia Cedar open with a deep, earthy and smoky intensity that behaves less like a conventional top note and more like a wall of rare woods — foreboding, dark and immediately arresting. Oud Assam and Madagascar Vanilla build a rich, leathery and quietly gourmand heart where raw agarwood meets creamy vanilla in a combination of startling depth and beauty. Castoreum, Birch, Guaiac Wood and Ambrarome close with a powerful, smoky and deeply animalic base that leaves a dark, balsamic trail unlike anything else in the Amouage catalog.
Performance:
Exceptional longevity and projection — one of the most tenacious releases in the Library Collection. The castoreum-birch base ensures the oud accord carries powerfully for eight or more hours, with the trail detectable on fabric well into the following day. Apply with real restraint.
