Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven and the mysterious figure who left three red roses and a flask of cognac at Poe's grave each year on his birthday. Black Pepper, Aldehydes and a Floral Ozone accord open with a striking, inky-metallic freshness unlike anything expected from a rose fragrance. Rose Oxide, Damascena and May Rose build a dark, multi-faceted heart before Ambroxan, Saffron, Atlas Cedar and Amber close with a warm, quietly smoky depth.
Performance:
Above-average longevity with decent projection. The rose and amber base carry well through the day, with the composition evolving meaningfully from an angular, provocative opening into a warmer, more settled drydown.
